The Most Sustainable Companies in Greece 2023

Polyeco has once again secured its position among the leading companies shaping the Business Charter for Sustainable Development in our country, marking the 5th consecutive year of this achievement. During an event hosted at the Goulandris Natural History Museum on Thursday, March 30, the QualityNet Foundation presented its annual evaluation of Business Performance in Sustainable Development, focusing on ESG criteria. A comprehensive technical assessment was conducted, evaluating various aspects including the companies' initiatives, stakeholder engagement, impact monitoring through policy procedures and indicators, as well as their disclosure of non-financial information. An Independent Jury performed the final evaluation, resulting in the recognition of 36 companies as "The Most Sustainable Companies in Greece 2023." These exceptional companies were featured in the Sustainability Performance Directory, which follows the guidelines of the Greek Sustainability Code.

Polyeco, alongside seven other companies, received recognition in the industry sector for its exceptional performance in environmental responsibility, social engagement, and corporate governance. This distinction affirms our company’s unwavering dedication to a comprehensive approach to Sustainable Development, the adoption of strategies that foster responsible business practices, and our firm belief in leading the way towards developing sustainable, reliable, and innovative solutions to safeguard our planet.

During her acceptance speech for the award, Valentina Giannakou, Polyeco’s Marketing and Communications Manager, acknowledged the challenges faced in implementing the new sustainable development strategy, stating “How high should an industry that offers sustainable waste management solutions and actively contributes to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting the sustainable development of its customers set the bar for its own sustainability? How challenging is it to persuade our staff and partners to embrace a new culture and way of conducting business that differs from what they have been accustomed to? Sustainability should not be merely a legislative obligation we must adhere to; instead, it should be a transformative change that optimizes our company’s operations, environmental impact, and overall value.”
