ON-SITE COLLECTION & TRANSPORTATION

The collection, storage and transportation of Hazardous Waste is covered by the International and Greek legislation framework based on the requirements of The Code of the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) and the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code). Basic requirement for the safe transport of Hazardous Waste is the classification of waste in Dangerous Class and UN number. Based on this classification and taking into account the means of transport to be used we select the appropriate packaging for the waste to be transportedPrior to waste collection, the following should be considered:

Prior to waste collection, the following should be considered:

  • Type of waste (solid, liquid, sludge)
  • Type of packing of waste (UN approved, bulk etc)
  • Need for repacking on site
  • Type of vehicle/ vessel
  • Labeling on HW Packaging
  • Placarding

Packaging, in order to be used for the transport of dangerous goods, must meet or exceed the minimum performance standards of UN regulations (UN approved)
