ANTONOV AN-12 aircraft crash of the Ukrainian company Meridian LTD

On Friday, March 24, 2023, Polyeco successfully collected, transported, and managed the waste resulting from the ANTONOV AN-12 aircraft crash of the Ukrainian company Meridian LTD. The crash occurred on July 16, 2022, in agricultural crops near the villages of Paleochori and Antifilippi, in Kavala. The military equipment carried by the aircraft was located and removed by the Army task force after the crash. As a result, the area was left clean and safe for other activities.

The project was awarded to Polyeco by Meridian LTD on March 3, 2023. The operations encompassed the collection and transportation of non-hazardous waste, including scrap, plastic pieces, paper, metal and wood packaging. Additionally, asbestos found in the aircraft was also removed as part of the project. The Department of Environment & Water Economy of the Regional Unit of Kavala, in accordance with the applicable legislation, granted the necessary approval prior to commencing the work.

The site is now prepared for farmers to resume their agricultural activities without any safety concerns.
