Crete on the Path to a Circular Economy – Responsible Waste Management as an Investment in the Future

As part of its ongoing commitment to promoting sustainable development and responsible waste management, POLYECO is organising a conference entitled: "Crete on the Path to a Circular Economy – Responsible Waste Management as an Investment in the Future" The conference will take place on Thursday, 9 July 2026, from 10:00 to 14:00, at the Experimental Theatre of the Heraklion Cultural Conference Centre, under the auspices of the Region of Crete. The event aims to bring together representatives of Local Government, public authorities, the scientific community, industry and the business sector to address current challenges and showcase modern solutions for the environmentally responsible management of hazardous waste in Crete.

The conference programme will focus on key topics, including:

  • The management of empty plant protection product (PPP) packaging
  • The safe management of asbestos-containing materials
  • The management of small quantities of hazardous waste generated by municipalities
  • The obligations of Local Authorities and best practices for implementing Circular Economy principles

Through expert presentations, institutional contributions and the exchange of knowledge and experience, the conference seeks to foster dialogue and strengthen cooperation among all stakeholders, contributing to the development of effective and sustainable environmental solutions.

Participation is free of charge and is open to representatives of Local Government, public organisations, technical services, businesses, industry and environmental professionals.
