POLYECO SA at the 6th International Conference on Industrial and Hazardous Waste Management | CRETE 2018

POLYECO S.A. participated as an official sponsor in the 6th International Conference on Industrial and Hazardous Waste Management | CRETE 2018, which was held in Chania, from September 4th to September 7th, 2018.

CRETE 2018 was a special event, as it marks the 10th anniversary of this unique IWWG conference series, which is traditionally organized every two years by the Technical University of Crete, the University of Padua, the Hamburg University of Technology and the International Waste Working Group (IWWG). Tsinghua University of Beijing joined in as a co-organizer, broadening CRETE 2018 boarders to the East.

Mr. Ilias Avramikos, Chemical Engineer, MSc and International Services Director of Polyeco Group, and Mrs. Kalliopi Papanikola, Chemical Engineer, PhD(c), presented the international activities of Polyeco and more specifically, the remediation of contaminated areas from hazardous pesticides at the port of Djibouti; they also presented research work within the classification of hazardous waste and especially spontaneous combustion catalysts and industrial aluminum slag properties. Polyeco representative also participated in a roundtable discussion regarding the existing waste management framework in Greece and extended producer responsibility policy implementation. Furthermore, they discussed the positive initiatives of the involved organizations, such as the Electronic Waste Registry and contributed to the drafting of conclusions and recommendations, on improving the industrial waste management based on the rules of circular economy.
